I swore based on many online and magazine ratings to only purchase either a Sony or Samsung LCD TV (same manufacturing anyways). I never really considered the Toshiba Regza line until I saw it on display at an architectural exhibit. The colors and detail were absolutely stunning. Despite what CNET described as not that good, the darks were actually really visible and even more so because Toshiba added a more detailed color tweaking menu for the videophiles out there. The menu is VERY simple to understand – and my particular favorite navigation part is the ability to switch inputs so quickly using the left/right toggle buttons.

The sound quality is amazing. There are many built in options here as well. Dolby sound, surround, etc. The speakers are so well hidden and yet sound great.

Other features I love are all the HDMI inputs, an SD Card slot (we can watch slide shows from people’s cameras), and the USB port (WOW you can watch DIVX movies, listen to MP3s etc from an external drive!!!)

I haven’t really given the Clearscan 240 feature a chance yet because I’m waiting for the football games on sunday, but I’m very happy so far with the 120Hz smooth performance. Again, excellent value for all the features you get.

V was great while I temporarily had it for 2 weeks. Amazon’s prices was too good to be true and you know what they say when that happens. They sold it at a 35% discount which is more than any of the vendors they had on their own site. The first shipment, the tv’s front casing (boarder around the screen) had severe scratches and scoff marks which clearly indicates that it is a used one.

Contacted Amazon to get a replacement and informed them to ensure me that I will get a BRAND NEW tv and not a used one. They told me that I am guaranteed a brand new one. Received a 2nd tv and the same severe scratches and scoff marks around the tv’s casing as well. I ended up sending both tv bad and requested a refund.

DO NOT buy anything through Amazon LLC if they are the one’s selling it. I am extremely disappointed as the tv was great. I would not purchase the used ones as 2 of the 3 was returned by me. Used flat screens are high risk as you never know how long they have been used, i.e. how long the screens were burning.

This is the first HDTV I’ve ever purchased and I feel good about it. It’s a beautiful picture, right out of the box. It took me about 10 minutes to unpack, another 5 to connect, and another 5 to configure. Out of the box, I have zero complaints about the picture settings. So far, the only thing in the image I dislike is the halo around candles/bulbs in a really dark setting. Other than that, this is a fantastic t.v.! You can view the image from any angle and the tru-motion/local dimming features make for a significantly sharp/contrasted image. Once in a while, you get a guy that has been working on t.v.s his whole life and starts bashing every little non-perfect thing about a t.v., but if you work, eat food, and watch t.v., this LG is for you! Energy Star, 120Hz, LED backlit, VESA 200×200 mounting, anti-reflective screen, super easy menu system, amazing picture….. come on!

I received this from amazon’s warehouse; whoever returned it clearly didn’t tweak (or know how to tweak) the picture sets for optimum performance. After playing around with all the pix options – and there are a lot of choices – I ended up with video that was incredible….an amazing improvement on my 3yr old sharp (which I had thought was really great.) The picture is sharp, the colors natural, the depth and the blacks superb. For folks who haven’t a clue how to set up the picture, there are plenty of sites like sound&vision or PC world or pc mag who list their particular preferences.

I had the Samsung UN40B7000 for about 3 weeks and loved the picture quality and the features it has. Coming from a 27 to a 32 and now a 40″ I love the large screen size. I would have thought the large the screen the more defects I would notice on the screen but that did not affect me at all. Now I can’t see my shelf viewing a smaller screen at all anymore. This past week I noticed that the prices on the UN40B7000 and UN467000 dropped dramatically at my local Fry’s $1499 for the 40″ and $1699 for the 46″ and both included the Samsung BD P1600 Blue Ray Player worth $225 for FREE. I had no choice but return my 40″ and replaced it with the 46″ for the same price I paid for the 40″ and received the Free Blue-Ray player. Now that I have hooked up the UN467000 I love the bigger screen and happy I upgraded to the 46″ for the same price.

Picture:
I didn’t notice any flashing or black corners on both of my Samsung 7000, only clear high resolution picture with vivid colors. Compared to the Sony XBR9 the Samsung LED picture quality is bright and the color pops out. HD picture is awesome and the SD is okay for an LCD much better than my old 32″ and my brothers XBR4. With 3,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 120hz Auto Motion that you can be turn off or adjusted this TV has an it all.

Blue Ray movies is outstanding, best picture I’ve ever seen in any TV set and the standard DVD plays great as well not Blue Ray quality but it’s a step up from my old TV. But I don’t know if it’s because of my new 46″ 7000 or the new Samsung BD P1600 that Fry’s throw in that make the picture much better or both.

Gaming:
I have the TV set up with the PS3 and it’s great. The picture quality is amazing no blur affects at all in fast movement.

Sound:
Speakers could be better but what do we expect for a TV that is 1.2″ thin. I’ve purchased the Sony HTC T100 sound bar to get better sound. I must say the HTC T100 has a great sound and meets my expectation and needs (See my review).

Features:
I haven’t yet connected the TV to the internet to see how the widget or DNLA works but I have used the USB connection to plug in my flash drive to view movies, picutres and listen to music. I’ve even connected my I-pod to it and it plays my music, video and even charges the battery.

Overall this TV is the best LCD TV I’ve seen and I’ve been looking for months. The prices are steadily going down and it’s much more affordable to go larger now than it was a month ago and according to what I’ve read the prices might go even lower when it gets closer to the Super Bowl and of course Black Friday. I highly recommend this TV to any one who is looking for a thin set that doesn’t compromises picture quality, features or price.

I have been using the Sony ICF-C1iP iPod Dock w/clock for about two months now. I bought it for my office, so that I could listen to the radio and also play songs from my iPod Touch. As far as looks go, this Sony is quite attractive. The buttons, located on top of the unit, are large and arranged well. The clock is a nice backlit blue, and is quite pleasing to the eye. The iPod dock, itself, is well made and offers an adjustable back support, so that every iPod model will be held in place firmly. Overall, the style, design and features of this unit are 5-star all the way.

Now for the weakness, which is arguably the most important feature of any music playing device. The sound quality of this Sony iPod dock is very average; barely. There is just no low end (bass). Don’t get me wrong, the music doesn’t sound tinny or distorted, when played at reasonable volume levels, but it just doesn’t have the full-bodied sound that I desire. I wasn’t expecting Bose SoundDock quality from this item, but I assumed that it would sound much better than it does. Highs are fairly crisp, and the midrange is very pronounced, but notes and sounds cut off quite sharply below that. I cannot find the rated frequency response of this model but I’m sure the numbers are fairly unimpressive. The stereo soundfield is also extremely narrow, even with the included “MEGA Xpand” feature turned on.

The included remote control is nice, and it controls nearly every function of this device. However, all clock and alarm related features must be controlled from the dock itself. The unit is fairly large, considering that it is advertised as a clock radio. I don’t know as though I would want this thing sitting on my nightstand. But I didn’t buy it to be used as a clock radio, so I am not rating it as such. Overall I am fairly pleased with this device, as a means to play some low volume music in my office. However, for anyone that is looking to play loud music, and/or is expecting solid bass frequencies in your music, then I would definately look past this Sony ICF-C1iP dock. It does suit my needs here at the office quite adequately, and that is why I decided to keep it, but I certainly would not buy this unit for use at home. I paid just over $100.00 for mine (with tax), and for that kind of money I would exect much better sound. If it were only $50 or $60, I would give it 4 stars, but for the money that Sony demands for it I cannot rate it any higher than 3 stars.

Sony has updated this clock radio with a new model – the ICF-C1PMK2 – which has even better AM reception, a brighter display, and official iPhone compatibility.

Several weeks ago, I upgraded to a new 160GB iPod Classic. At the same time, I bought an XtremeMac Luna clock radio, which had good reviews. Unfortunately, I found that the Luna is incompatible with the new iPods – it cannot wake them from deep sleep to play the alarm in the morning. A call to XtremeMac got nothing more than a note that my issue had been forwarded to their technical team.

Without any reviews, I took a chance, and ordered the Sony ICF-C1iP iPod clock radio, and am I glad I did! The Sony is fully compatible with my iPod Classic, and Sony includes instructions for using the iPhone as well. And, the sound quality and radio performance is remarkably better than the Luna or other iPod clock radios I’ve tested.

Sony has done a great job with the ICF-C1iP. It is an upright design, with most of the unit behind the iPod, in a slanted design with controls at the top. The iPod dock accepts universal adapters, but they aren’t really needed as Sony has an adjustable supporting plate behind the iPod.

Unlike the Luna, which attempts to duplicate the iPod menus on its display, the Sony ICF-C1iP includes a remote control that lets you completely control the iPod menus as if you were manipulating the scroll wheel. Quite impressive.

Sound quality is very good for a clock radio – with full bass and even midtones. Sony includes a simulated mode they call “Mega XPand” that in my experience made the music sound muddied and under-sampled. Your mileage my vary.

The blue-backlit clock is located in the iPod dock area, and 3 brightness levels are available. In my experience, even the lowest setting is a bit too bright, but not enough to disturb me at night. I wish that the display were slightly larger, although the high contrast lets me see the time without my glasses from a reasonable distance.

And, unlike most iPod clock radios, the radio reception is outstanding – with an external AM antenna provided. The unit has dual alarms, which can be set to iPod (you can even select a wakeup volume), Radio, or Buzzer.

On the downside, the battery backup for the buzzer alarm and clock is a small expensive lithium battery. And, if your relying on just the buzzer to wake you up it’s not very loud. You also have to be careful when changing the alarms to make sure that you don’t accidentally turn the alarm off. But all of these are minor issues. However, these are all very minor issues that don’t detract from the unit overall.

All in all, in my experience, this is the best iPod clock radio you can buy.
